Answer: Try the Marble Cake with a topping of chocolate chips.
MARBLE CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS
Ingredients: 125g butter 110g castor sugar 2 large eggs 1 1/2 tbsp golden syrup 30g ground almonds 100g self-raising flour, sifted 15g cocoa mixed with 3 tbsp milk 50g chocolate chips
Method: Grease and line base of an 18cm-round cake tin with greasproof paper.
Cream the butter and castor sugar until light and creamy. Whisk the eggs together and add a little at a time to the creamed mixture beating well after each addition. Stir in the golden syrup and ground almonds. Fold in the self-raising flour. Pile the mixture into the prepared cake tin. Spoon the cocoa mixture on top of the cake mixture and using a butter knife swirl in the cocoa mixture to create a marble effect. Level the cake surface and scatter the chocolate chips on top.
Bake in preheated oven 175°C for 40 minutes or until cake is well risen and feels spongy. Turn out and cool on a wire rack.
