Thank you everyone for participating with the discussions of this year's MasterChef, although the show has let us down a lot, but it has been fun trying to find spoilers and predicting outcomes! See you again later in November/December for next year's instalment, that is, if Channel 10 is still with us. Personally for me it was a very enjoyable season especially thanks to Tamara Sarah Eloise & Callan Diana Ben Karlie LOL, no, I didn't mean the contestants, it is the structure of the show that lets us down. The never ending challenges of giving the contestants some ingredients and then let them cook what ever they like, and the static 60 or 75 minutes cooking time for almost 99% of individual challenges. Whatever we might think of MKR with their focus on villains, their show structure are definitely more interesting, like cooking breakfasts, brunch, street party, etc. Masterchef used to do these challenges, but they have all but disappeared. Although I was tired of seeing Ben making ice cream constantly in the final few weeks, it was not his fault, the structure of the challenges allowed him to do that, and as TV show, it makes for dull viewing!

That's just too hilarious! I rewatched the ending again, that 90 for Ben was at the end of telling Karlie she won some money, and just before giving Diana the trophy! So I would believe that they re-edit the final result in a hurry and missed taking out that little bit... I don't believe if that was the original final edit, they would have made such an error, LOL... Don't get me wrong, I wanted Diana to win, but I just don't trust the producers after 7 years of alternate male/female winners. As I have said before and still believe Matt was supposed to win last year to keep that balance, but when his egg fell apart, they have no way of giving the win to him. And this year they wanted a male winner, but that drink driving news thwarted their plan again, because it was very odd that news took so long to come out... Maybe they somehow suppressed it from coming out, so to give Ben the winner edit for as long as possible?

Anyone caught the new cooking show on ABC last night? I was almost caught by surprise as I did not even know it was a cooking show, as its name sounds like a sports show, Short Cuts to Glory, LOL. Comedian Matt Okine hosted the show, and it is a show about basic simple cooking for someone who's not very good with cooking, with segments like The Basics, Cooking Tips, How to Pimp a Cake, etc. He visited well-known chefs and learn simple recipes from them. And guess what, Alice the glasses from season 4 (?) Masterchef also does a segment on the show!

Looks like Masterchef will not disappear after all, now that the news of American CBS TV network has bought Network 10 has been revealed. The 'eye' heads Down Under

It will be interesting if they will make any changes to Masterchef schedule for next year, if they will keep it to 5 nights per week, or shorten it? Or keep it to a strict 1 hour per episode, rather than the usual 70-90 minutes per episode?
Also hope they make changes to the editing of the show which has been shocking the past few years...

Just found out Matt Sinclair has scored his own cooking show starting today at 4pm on Channel 10! And he has two co-hosts from the earlier seasons of Masterchef, Courtney Roulston from season 2 and Michael Weldon from season 3!

Anyone going to watch Family Food Fight starting next Monday on Channel 9, is there a need to start a thread for that, I wonder? LOL
I am going to watch it but not sure it will be a must-watch, already not very impressed with the judges chosen for the show.

It is that time of the year again when they start filming the new season of MasterChef, so head over to the new thread for news of season 10, and hopefully lots of spoilers. Just a reminder that the TV spoilers are available to members only, guests cannot access the spoiler thread. Also hope they make plenty of changes to the new season, I think what is essential is to set parameters for every challenge, instead of just give them ingredients and have the contestants cook anything they want, which made for very dull competition, yes I am talking about ice cream Ben from this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please, please set restrictions, like cook a certain cuisine, cook breakfast/brunch/dinner dishes, make pastry and cook a dish using the pastry, or make bread and use it to accompany a dish, or cook only savoury dishes, etc... DON'T just give them a set of ingredients and let them loose, that just make the contestants cook similar dishes day-in day-out! Here's hoping, but don't think it will happen, sigh...

I was thinking of what could they do to improve/reinvigorate the challenges, and thought that in terms of cuisine challenge, we don't expect every contestants to be familiar with every type of cuisines. So for example, Thai cuisine, maybe a green curry challenge, why not provide them with the essential green curry paste ingredients to cook a green curry with, but not giving them the quantity of each ingredients, let them use their taste/palate to guide them to create their own dish, using all/some of the provided ingredients and of course choose their own protein/vegetables to complete the dish?
