The following is a recipe shared by connie77 from my old forum in 2008, also known as Belacan Cake, or Kek Belacan in Malay:
"Hi fellow bakers, this recipe was given by my aunt. I had already attempt to make it and it turned out very good and I would like to share with all of you here. I steamed it during this Chinese New Year 08." connie77
Black Cake
Ingredients: 8 oz butter 3/4 cup sugar 5 eggs (separate egg white & yolk) 1/2 tin condensed milk (I use 1/2 of 325ml) 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 cups flour a pinch of salt 5 tbsp gravy browning
Method: 1. Beat butter and sugar until pale. Add in condensed milk, egg yolks and gravy browning until mixed well. 2. Then add in flour, baking powder and soda. Set aside. 3. In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until fluffy. Then add into the egg yolk batter. 4. Steam for 45 minutes.
