Sweet Sago Kuih 甜西谷米糕 Recipe from Kitchen Notes on Fenying's radio program, Saturday, April 28, 2007
Ingredients: A: ½ grated white coconut ½ tsp salt
B: (wash, soak for 20 mins, drained) 250g sago 西谷米
C: 170g fine sugar (castor sugar) ¼ tsp green coloring ¼ tsp vanilla oil (or extract)
1 pc banana leaf (cut round to lay on 22cm steaming tray)
Method: 1. Steam ingredient A for 10 mins over high heat, to be use later. 2. Mix drained sago with ingredient C till evenly mixed. 3. Pour mixture into steaming tray pre-lined with banana leaf. 4. Steam over high heat for approx. 20 mins till cooked, cool. 5. Cut into desired pieces and coat with grated white coconut.
Note: Grease steaming tray with oil if no banana leaf is used.
