Noooooooooooooooooooooooo.... Jock, Melissa and Andy are the new judges.... Not impressed! except maybe Jock, and he seems too quietly spoken for a judge........ I thought Jock was very patronizing this Year.

Also can't see former contestants who have established themselves in the industry returning as contestants again, people like Poh, Justine, Andre, Reynold, Matt Sinclair, Icecream Ben. They would have too much to lose returning as contestants.

I thought Jock was very patronizing this Year. Actually I did not find that, the conversation he had with Larissa, I thought Larissa was being a jerk playing the victim by saying "don't kill me" a few times...... Jock always has that stern look, maybe he came across patronizing is because he does not have that friendly vibe that Masterchef Australia is known for.

Based on the title I guess there are no previous winners
Can also rule out s4 Ben as would be very unfair with Andy as judge, LOL

The more I think about it, the new trio just doesn't have that "x-factor"... Gary and George knew each other as mentor and student years before and both were on "Ready Steady Cook" where their fun personalities shone on screen; Matt was a well known critic and food writer and would be known to Gary and George due to his job, I used to religiously read his food columns in the newspaper before he became a judge on the show, so at least I was familiar with all 3.
The new trio are probably all stranger to each other. Jock and Andy are chefs but Melissa is a curious case, she seems to be well-regarded in the industry for her to be asked to be a judge on The Chef's Line as I have never heard of her before that, and in that regard has anyone read any food articles that she'd written? For me, I tried to google when she became a judge on The Chef's Line, I could not find a single article that she wrote on food! Reading her background, she was a freelance food critic/writer for a few years, then doing PR, then editing cookbooks, there's nothing about her passion for cooking, or dedicating her life to the food industry...
As for Jock, just watch his TV series "Chef Exchange" which was on SBS a few years ago, he's very good in food knowledge, but as personality goes, it is very hard to see him as a friendly, mentoring type, he's a more stern, principal type of personality, guiding rather than mentoring.

Also can't see how Andy can disagree with Jock when Andy can be considered a novice in the food industry.
Yes, Jock personality on TV is like Zumbo.
I think only those contestants that are not doing too much in the food industry will be back. Most probably the forgotten ones.

So any idea if the contestants have been decided yet? Also how many contestants this season? I would love to see a few like Georgia, Billie, Mindy, Audra, etc.

Most probably not. That will deviate from the main core of Masterchef I think it is an all-stars, previous contestants will be back. I was wrong. They even want successful contestants to come back. “Having watched this group create their own restaurants, their own businesses and become great chefs in their own right has been amazing,” Zonfrillo said. “But now to see them back, pitting their knowledge against each other in the MasterChef kitchen, sets the stage for the most exciting season yet.” Leong added: “Back To Win — it says it all, right? This is the who’s who of MasterChef Australia’s favourites from seasons past. This season, they have an opportunity to show everyone what they’ve been up to and where they are at, in their food evolution. They know how this game works, so they should be prepared to waste no time in showing us what they’ve got.”

This is almost like Masterchef The professionals Not quite because they're people like Rose and Georgia who're definitely doing well but not chefs as such. Plus we actually care about them (like I didn't actually cared about the professionals tbh)

I would guess they would be those doing bits and pieces, food demonstrations, pop-ups etc, in the industry and don't have a permanent job.
